Immigration policy trump is a success Illegal border crossing in the southwest has dropped by 40% last month, according to a recently published customs and border services, which suggests that the hard line of the President of Donald trump and policies of immigration can have a deterrent effect.

Secretary of national security John Kelly himself announced about the monthly numbers, the statistics that are usually quiet CBP published on its website without fanfare. According to CBP, a 40% reduction in illegal border crossings in the South-West from January to February is far beyond the usual seasonal trends. Usually from January to February, the change actually increases by 10-20%.

It'll take months to find out whether the reduction in border-crossing immigrants a symptom of an enduring effect of trump's model of immigration. Numbers tend to decrease seasonality in the winter and increased in spring.

But a sharp decline after a surge at the end of the Obama administration could fit the description of what works and harsh rhetoric about immigration. "This is encouraging news," said Kelly in a statement. "However, as President trump took office on January 20, we observe a sharp decline". Kelly noted that fewer apprehensions means fewer people make the dangerous journey North to the border.

Although Stein argues that deterrence only reduces fraud, and legitimate refugees still make their way to the United States, the opponents of the policy trump say that his actions mostly harm to such vulnerable people as women and children.

Although the figures show that trump's efforts to limit illegal immigration are already working, a former employee of CBP warns that there may be a more complex range of factors.
