Trump plans to speak by phone with Putin President Donald trump intends to speak by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, it will be the first call after Russia condemned the United States military strike against Syria last month.

Trump and Putin talk on Tuesday afternoon, said a spokesman for the White house in their third telephone conversation since joining trump in the post. The last time they spoke after the attack in St. Petersburg in early April, and talked in a week after the inauguration of the trump in January.

This call came after Putin described the American attack on the airbase of the Syrian government as "aggression against a sovereign state in violation of international law." The U.S. attack was a response to the alleged chemical attack of Syrian leader Bashar Assad, an ally of Putin, his own people.

Issues also continue to hang over the connections between trump and the Russian cyber incursions during the presidential campaign of 2016, which is investigating the FBI and numerous committees on Capitol hill. Trump said during the presidential campaign that he considers Putin a "strong leader" and hopes that will be able to build a good relationship with him.

In January, trump said he believes that Russia is responsible for breaking into the Democratic national Committee in 2016: "I think it was Russia," said trump, adding that Putin "should not do". "He won't do it. Russia will be much stronger respect for our country when I have her head than when other people are headed," said the then President-elect.

The statement of the Kremlin after the American attack in Syria seemed pessimistic, stating that the intervention "has dealt a serious blow to Russian-American relations that are already in distress".
