The USAF demanded from Congress funding for upgrading the A-10 Air force United States requested from Congress funding for the modernization of the venerable fleet Warthog A-10. Air force warned Congress that more than a third of the 283 aircraft A-10 must be grounded, if Congress does not increase the budget of the BBC to renew the production line which creates new wings for the aircraft.

Air force paid for new wings needed to extend the service life of 173 aircraft A-10, but do not have funding for other 110 in the fleet, and about 40 aircraft will be grounded by the year 2021, if no additional funds will be allocated, the press-Secretary of the air force Ann Stefanek. Experts at the defense budget argue that the transition to the wing in its not funded by the list of requirements is reminiscent of tactics often used by the military to force Congress to add funding for politically popular programs, providing more opportunities for maneuver in the budget request. Air force hope that Congress will increase funding by providing additional funds, the air force and gain something elsewhere in the budget.

The question of financing the aircraft the A-10 was on the agenda last week during a meeting in Congress. Lieutenant General Arnold Bunch, the procurement officer of the air force, told Congress that the air force has pledged to keep 6 of 9 squadron A-10 flying until 2030. "Additional force structure A-10 is dependent on future budget levels and requirements to the power structure," wrote Bunch in their written testimony

Last year the then Minister of defense ash Carter said that there are plans to defer the retirement of A-10 until 2022, after which it will be replaced by the F-35.
