In the United States introduced enhanced security measures at foreign flights Starting Wednesday, passengers on direct flights to the USA will have to undergo additional security checks for portable electronic devices larger than a phone.

Civil aviation authorities of Mexico had issued a warning in a statement after they said they had been informed by the Department of homeland security (DHS) on the implementation of an additional layer of security.

"Airlines will use extraordinary measures," beginning Wednesday, the report said the Directorate General of civil aviation Ministry of communications and transport. No additional information about the reason for the change of security Protocol was not. Passengers planning to travel in the USA, reported that they "must appear at the airport 3 hours before departure to complete the procedures".

Devices that passengers bring into the cabin, will be subject to a security check and must be presented separately from the rest of the Luggage and without a cover or any other protection.

This move follows the recent blocking of laptops that DHS imposed on incoming flights to the US from eight countries in the Middle East and North Africa. In this case, officials feared that the device could be used to smuggle explosives on Board.
