According to local police, the resorts of the French Riviera was evacuated as forest fires threaten thousands of people.

More than 10 thousand residents and tourists were moved from the coastal commune of Bormes-Les-Mimosas, about 40 km (almost 25 miles) from Toulon, one of the most southern cities of the country. Tourists resting on the beach near Saint-Tropez, watched beside him was a forest fire. The kids played in the sand, while others took pictures on their phones, as the flames consumed the pine and sent columns of black smoke billowing overhead.

The combination of strong Mistral winds and lack of rain has caused fires which are entrenched in the resorts of the French Riviera and on the island of Corsica off the southern coast of France. Travel photos exchanged between travelers in social networks, captured planes, circling above the sandy beaches and pink sunsets, interspersed with smoke clouds.

Since the beginning of the fires was started more than 100 operations with the aircraft flying over the area Barmes early in the morning on Wednesday, dropping water bombs for forest fires.
