The Poison frontman was taken to the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph`s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, last month after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He had slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, but amazed staff with the speed of his recovery.

His neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Zabramski gave a press conference yesterday, in which he discussed Bret`s wellbeing. "I really expect that he will fortunately make a 100% recovery," the medic said. "He`s just one of those lucky people... he`ll make a complete recovery and be able to resume all (his) normal activities."

Only between 10 and 20% of haemorrhage sufferers make a full recovery.

Bret suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage, which is a stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled areas at the base of the brain. The problem was made worse as he had recently undergone an emergency appendectomy, has type 1 diabetes and developed a complication which can cause seizures.

However, Zabramski insists the 47-year-old`s condition will get better in a little over a week, and he will then "be able to feel like he`s on the mend and can resume all of his activities".

At the moment Bret is "still very sick right now...What I made him promise me is that he would make no promises". Despite this, the doctor is confident Bret won?t have any other complications. He has been discharged, and has been advised to convalesce for four to six weeks.

"There is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening," Zabramski said. "Everyone in this room has the same risk that he did."

Last week, Bret`s management team insisted he will be well enough to return to his Roses & Thorns tour on May 26. All the shows he has missed will be rescheduled, and he is also still planning to tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd in June and July.

Zabramski explained he doesn`t know when Bret will return to work, as it depends on the speed of his recovery.
