Jessica Simpson is desperate to duet with Katy Perry.

The singer-and-actress has put her music career on hold of late, instead focusing on her TV programme The Price of Beauty. She has recently started to feel inspired to write songs again, and has started working on tracks for a new album.

Jessica is keen to surprise her fans with the record, and hopes to convince a host of big name stars to appear on it. She is especially interested in working with Katy Perry, who she is a huge fan of.

"Jessica is busy working on new songs and a new direction and has a number of names she would love to collaborate with," a source explained. "Jess has a number of names she would love to work with and Katy is at the top. She`s hoping she might be able to work with her in some way and maybe even perform with her."

Jessica`s last album, Do You Know, was released in 2008. It was a country music record, and included a collaboration with Dolly Parton, who called Jessica the "sweetest" person she had ever met.
