The Girls Aloud beauty has decided to end her relationship with NFL player Jason Bell - who she has been dating since the summer of 2008 - because it wasn`t going anywhere.

A friend of the singer - who now lives in Los Angeles - revealed: "Nadine was the one who decided it wasn`t working. They were together for two years but there was no marriage on the horizon. It`s all very amicable and they will remain friends. But relationships are all about taking steps and making commitments and they weren`t moving to the next step."

It doesn`t seem Nadine, 25, will have long to dwell on her decision to separate from 32-year-old Jason, because she is completely focused on completing her debut solo LP.

The pal added to the Daly Star newspaper: "Now she`s putting all her energies into making her solo album. It will blow people away.

"She`s really thrilled with the results. It will prove once and for all what an amazing talent she has."

Nadine`s future with Girls Aloud is uncertain at present following reports her bandmates - Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl Cole - are planning to reunite without her.

The group have been on a self-imposed hiatus to work on individual projects, but the other four girls are now keen to get back together with or without Nadine.
