Lee Ryan will no longer face assault charges The Blue singer appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates` Court today (27.08.10) after being accused of hitting his fiancee Samantha Miller - the mother of his nine-month-old son Rayn - earlier this month, only for the accusation to be dropped at the request of his partner.

After the assault allegation was read out by the court clerk, prosecutor Laura Tams asked for it to officially be withdrawn.

She said: "I have this morning been handed a withdrawal statement dated 25 August signed by Samantha Miller.

"Having taken further instructions there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. I ask the court therefore to withdraw the charge."

Samantha had called police following the alleged incident, where the 27-year-old singer reportedly hit his 26-year-old fiancee in the face while in a car in London.

Lee - who was arrested at his home in south London after reportedly refusing requests to go for questioning - vowed at the time to "fight" the allegations.

His spokesperson said: "Lee 100 per cent denies common assault. He will be fighting theses charges in court".

The singer was previously arrested in December 2007 for assaulting a taxi driver.

He later appeared in court, where he was fined £300 and complained he "felt targeted because he is famous".

Last year, he was quizzed by police on suspicion of smoking cannabis.
