Mark Wahlberg was violent as a teenager The 39-year-old actor admits his troubled youth - which included drug use, antisocial behaviour and a stint in jail as a teenager for assault - was a result of living in a tough neighbourhood with no role models.

Mark - whose parents divorced when he was 11 - said: "I grew up in a violent neighbourhood, where there was very little money, a lot of drugs, and the guy on the corner with the nice car and the girl, he was cool.

"That`s what you wanted to be. I didn`t have anybody else to look up to."

He also claims the younger version of himself would have likely robbed him.

When asked what would happen if his teenage self met him now, he told FHM magazine: "He`d beat the s**t out of him man. What do you think he`d do? Knock him down, takes his wallet off him for sure, and tell him to go back to wherever he came from!"

Mark - who has children Ella, six, Michael, four, Brendan, 23 months and nine-month-old Grace - with wife Rhea Durham - eventually realised he needed to change his ways when he acknowledged he had hurt an innocent man.

He said: "I woke up and I realised that I`d hurt somebody who didn`t deserve it. They were innocent and I felt pretty f***ed up by that."
