Turkmenistan celebrates national holiday this Saturday - Day of Health.

This holiday was established in 2000 by special decree of president Niyasov and is celebrated annually on first Saturday of November.

Holiday started early in the morning with mass ascent by path of health which locates in Kopetdaga foothills at the height of 1040 meters. Thousands of Ashkhabad citizens participated in health marathon. Celebration continued in parks of culture and rest, stadiums and open sport grounds, where mass competitions of various kinds of sports took place.

Special attention is paid to health of Turkmenistan population. Decrees of the head of government prohibited smoking of nasa (type of tobacco grown in Central Asia) in public.
