Robbie Williams had an "unexpected bonus" after poisoning Take That were forced to cancel a performance in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the weekend after the singer became ill after eating a "dodgy" lobster and while the star - who has struggled to maintain a slender frame throughout his career - admits he still feels "zapped" by the bug, he is pleased to be a few pounds lighter.

He revealed: "At 70 per cent I think ? Can walk and talk but still feel zapped. What a thoroughly unpleasant ride that was. The dramatic weight loss has been an unexpected bonus."

Robbie has been comforted through his illness by a gift from wife Ayda Field.

Responding to a question about a picture he posted of himself in his sick bed, Robbie wrote on his blog: "Yes that was a teddy in the picture with the drip. His name is better bear. Ayda got him for me and I love him."

Despite his illness, the ?Angels? singer was able to join his bandmates on stage for the next date of their `Progress Live` tour in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, but admits he wasn`t sure he would make it and only the support of fans got him through the show.

He explained: "OMG Amsterdam you have no idea. Before going on my legs were buckling and I was struggling to keep anything down. I really didn`t know if I was going to pass out.

"Did it though. Do I get my `trooper badge? The crowd were unreal ? virtual wall of love willing me through. (sic)"

The 37-year-old singer also revealed the other members of Take That - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange - were "beside themselves" at having to cancel a show.

He said: "The pride in their work ethic is second to none. They`ve never cancelled a gig in the whole of their careers and they were absolutely beside themselves with worry and frustration about not being able to fulfil their duty to the fans."
