Jeff Bridges suffers from "reverse vanity" The Oscar-winning actor believes getting older helps him feel better about his looks and he has learned to "let go" and not be concerned about age.

He said: "As you get older, there`s maybe something like a reverse vanity, where you just let your age go and not be concerned about it."

The 62-year-old star believes working on the movie `Tron: Legacy`, a follow-up to 1982 film `Tron`, taught him how to be a leading man after years in the shadows.

He said: "I`d never done a film before where I had to be on set all day and every day. I`ve always been the supporting actor trying to write his role bigger."

However, the film`s director Joseph Kosinski thinks Jeff is the only person who could take on the role because he "grounds" it.

He said: "You really need an actor like Jeff. Especially in a film like this where you`re going to this other world.

"You need something that grounds it in the centre and when you see Jeff Bridges walk on screen it just pulls the movie together in the way that only a great actor can."
