The `Glee` creator and his husband David Miller announced the birth of son Logan Phineas in an email to family and friends on Christmas Eve (24.12.12), with the message accompanied by a picture of the baby inside a Christmas stocking, E! News has revealed.

The announcement read: "Logan Phineas Miller Murphy, Born December 24, 2012 9:47 am."

It went on to say Logan weighed 6lb 6oz and measured 21 inches.

Details of the little boy`s birth mother have not been disclosed.

The happy news comes just a few months after Ryan revealed he was excited at the prospect of being a parent in the future.

He said: "I think I`ll be incredibly fun and overwhelmed and all about manners. People always say when you have a child it brings you back to when you were a kid, and I`m excited to do that. I had a very rocky, difficult, emotional childhood with my parents.

"And then I`m excited to have somebody or something come in and say, `Really? I don`t care what you think. I`m going to do what I want.` "
