Russian cosmonauts planned parachute jump to South Pole During the jump special light space-suits, equipped with oxygen-cylinders, will be tested.

Famous Russian cosmonauts along with participants of "Sky Odyssey - for glory of Russia" expedition intend to parachute to South Pole in the beginning of new Year.

"Special space-suits allow to land in conditions of extremely low temperature. We intend to set new world record in parachuting to South Pole", - told the leader of expedition, pilot Alexander Begak.

Russian parachutists have several goals: they must parachute jump in complicated meteorological conditions and erect obelisk of Peace with built-in capsule, containing more than 160 thousands wishes to descendants, sent by people all over Russia by mail or Internet.

Erection of Obelisk at South Pole will be the final event of Antarctic part of "Sky Odyssey - for glory of Russia" project, started in 2003. 40 people - adult professionals as well as youth at the age 14-20 years old from all parts of the world - will participate in expedition.

"On day the Obelisk of Peace will be erected, we will appeal to leaders of warring countries to stop military operations and call this day as Day of Intellect and Peace. I wish at least one hour on our planet to be without war and terror", - said Alexander Begak.
