Moldavia cut off from Russian gas supplies Moldavia was cut off from Russian gas supplies along with Ukraine in the view of absence of new contract with "Gazprom".

This was informed at session of republican administration under chairmanship of Moldavian president Vladimir Voronin. The session took place in Kishinev on Monday.

As press-service of Moldavian president informs, in the view of situation the operative staff over energetic security problems was formed under government.

"Suggested by "Gazprom" price of $160 per thousand of cubic meters is not a market one and, therefore, Moldavia will continue negotiations with Russian purveyors", - noted Voronin. By his words, "Moldavia made own suggestions, supported with all economic calculations, but behavior of Russian side points at noneconomic motivation of current steps".

The day before president of Moldavia announced that "doesn`t see any politics" in increase of prices on gas from "Gazprom" but hopes on its reduction taking into consideration regular payments of republic for gas supplies and the circumstance that "Gazprom" owns control stock of mutual Russian-Moldavian enterprise "Moldaviagas".

At present moment Moldavia pays to "Gazprom" $80 for thousand of cubic meters of gas and to "Gazexport" - $65. Payment for Russian gas transit over republican territory amounts to $2.5 for pumping of 1 thousands of cubic meters on distance of 100 km.

Ukrainian president has promised to help Moldavia with gas from own reserves.
