Vladimir Chagin won 5-th "Dakar" stage Driving on "KamAZ" Russian racers were ahead in 5-th stage of "Dakar-2006" rally-raid between Ouarzazate and Tan-Tan.

Vladimir Chagin, being 14 minutes ahead of last year`s winner of rally Firdaus Kabirov, has won 5-th stage in a row. The third place in class of lorries took Czech Karel Loprais on "Tatre" - he was 23 minutes behind the leader.

As a result of 5 stages Chagin is 1.5 hours ahead of Loprais, who is on the 2 place. Firdaus Kabirov loses only 1 minute to the Czech driver. Sergey Reshetnikov, who was on 4-th place after 4-th stage, has confronted with serious technical difficulties during 5-th stage. There is no information if Russian crew finished in the 5-th stage or not.

6-th stage of "Dakar" rally from Tan-Tan to Zuerata will take place on January 5. Its total length is 792 km with special part being 444 km.
