Estonian intelligence service rejects charges in espionage on Russian territory Police of Estonia denies charges in espionage on territory of Russia and regards them as mistake or provocation.

As commissar of Estonian security police Henno Kuurmann announced on Tuesday, "security police is not involved in intelligence on territory of foreign states".

As it was informed to administration of Federal Security Service over St. Petersburg and Leningradskaya oblast, Russian officer, working for Estonian special services, was detained on suspicion of high treason in St. Petersburg.

By data of investigation, suspect was recruited by Estonian citizen Alexander Goncharov, who is known to Russian Federal Security Services as official of Security Police department of Estonian Ministry of Interior Affairs (counterespionage). In particular, "Goncharev was in charge of Russian servicemen and law machinery officials recruiting", - said representative of Federal Security Service administration.

Also "Goncharov participated in pursuer actions against citizens of Estonia and without citizenship, permanently living in Estonia and used to serve in USSR Armed Forces and law machinery organs".

"We don`t understand why security police is linked with this case. Alexander Goncharov actually works in security police but we don`t see how can he be connected with the case, - said Kuurmann. - Evidently, it is a mistake or provocation".

From its turn Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia refused to comment message of Russian Federal Security Service about arrested in St. Petersburg man, involved in undercover work in favour of Estonia.
