On Monday Russian President Vladimir Putin had a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kremlin. It was the first visit of German Chancellor to Russia after her election on the post in November, 2005. Angela Merkel has already met President Putin in Berlin in September, being the leader of opposition.

As some journalists note, meeting with Merkel didn`t disappoint Putin, and as for his favorite project of North-European gas pipeline, Merkel declared it "a strategic project" for Germany. Talks between Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin took quite a considerable time, though the participants saved time refusing interpreters. After the talks neither Putting nor Merkel looked tired, journalists note.

The analysts underline, that the first visit of German Chancellor finished in a positive way for Vladimir Putin. German leader didn`t criticize Kremlin in public for deviation from democracy and for the law about non-state organization , and Russian President declared the conformity of Russia`s position on Iran problem and the Western countries position on the same problem.
On the meeting results Angela Merkel invited Vladimir Putin to visit Germany, two times this year. After the talks she informed, that she had invited Russian President to international aero-space exhibition in Berlin and to the forum "Petersburg dialog", which is to be held in Dresden in autumn.
