Russian figure skater Irina Slutskaya has taken leading position at European Figure Skating Championship in Lyon.

Slutskaya, who has been the Champion of Europe six times, has perfectly performed her short program and having the point of 66,43 beaten her compatriot Elena Sokolova, with the points of 60,88, who holds the second position.

Confident performance of the Swiss figure skater Sara Mayer has become a surprise. She holds the third position with the point of 60,87.

The Russian Figure Skating Championship Silver prize winner Victoria Volochkova, who missed several international competitions because of the trauma, holds sixth position with the point 57,08.

On Tuesday women are to perform free programs.
