Experts of Federal space agency (Roscosmos) have successfully conducted the complex tests of rocket carrier "Souz-2" at "Baikonur" space center in Kazakhstan.

Complex tests have started on January 30: rocket carrier was transported and placed at launching complex. Roscosmos crew simulated pre-start operations in order to test the equipment of starting complex. No malfunctions have been revealed.

As a reminder, first launch of rocket carrier "Souz-2" from Baikonur cosmodrome with European meteorological satellite Metop is planned for mid-2006. "Souz-2" possesses higher carrying capacity (1 ton more) than "Souz-U", modern control system, enlarged head ship. New model of rocket will change all currently used rocket careers on base of P-7 rocket.
