As the head of Sakhalin search-and-rescue detachment of the Russian Emergency Ministry Eugeni Kropalov, operation of fishermen`s evacuation from drifting ice-floe is completed near the south-east coast of Sakhalin.

Three people are taken from the ice-floe, drifted away to 800 meters from the coast near the settlement Okhotskoye.

According to Kropalev, the rescuers had to drag the motor boat over hummocks, then through chipped and studge ice to force their way by the sea to drifting ice-floe with the fishermen.

Kropalev also informed, that since the beginning of the 2006 the specialists of Sakhalin search-and-rescue detachment of the Russian Emergency Ministry have already performed 7 rescue-operations on taking people from drifted away ice-floes. As a result of such operations about 400 people totally were rescued.
