Merkel was accused of weakness in front of Moscow The Minister of defence of Estonia Sven Mixer accused German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her weakness in front of Moscow. This conclusion was made on the basis of the fact that Germany does not welcome the placement of NATO troops in the Baltic States.

Angela Merkel said that the projects for the foreseeable future is not listed accommodation of the permanent military forces of NATO in the Baltic States. While she stressed that the Alliance will need more intensively to conduct military exercises, as well as to strengthen the infrastructure involved in the military sphere.

He accused Merkel of indecision, because she refused to host a NATO military base in Latvia. Explaining this, the Chancellor pointed to the agreement of 1997 on mutual relations, cooperation and security agreement between NATO and the Russian Federation.
