The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the programme of the fight against HIV and AIDS
The Parliament of Ukraine at a meeting on the first day of the week approved the national target social program of counteraction to HIV/AIDS for 2014-2018.

The decision on approval of the program supported 244 MP when the required minimum of 226 votes. The aim of the programme is to reduce morbidity and mortality from HIV/AIDS, provision of quality and accessible services prevention and diagnosis of diseases, treatment and support of people living with HIV in line with the modernization of the health system.

the document notes that as of January 1, 2013 in Ukraine registered more than 223 thousand HIV-infected people, including more than 36 thousand children under the age of 14 years. The prevalence of HIV - 283, 6 persons per 100 thousand inhabitants, and AIDS - 53 persons per 100 thousand inhabitants.

" The approval of the national program, firstly, will enable us to gain an additional 1, 2 billion (more than us $ 92 million) in retroviral therapy and the purchase of medical drugs for HIV-infected people. The program lasts for four years, and its Approval will give the opportunity now to Finance the purchase of drugs for HIV-infected and to receive donor funds ", - said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, presenting the relevant draft law in the Verkhovna Rada.
