Ukraine has already saved about $ 1 billion due to the difference in the purchase price of gas in the European Union and Russia, said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

" We have diversified gas supply and switched on 60% of gas supplies to the EU, reduced price, saved up to billion dollars on the difference in rates between the Russian price and the price of member countries of the EU " - said Yatsenyuk at a press conference.

Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of gas and coal for heat and electricity production. Gas Country saves by reducing procurement in Russia, while Moscow has resumed gas supplies to Kiev on December 9 after a nearly six-month break. The cost of Russian gas for Ukraine in November-December is 378 dollars (taking into account discounts to the contract price of about $ 100 per thousand cubic meters).

The country remains dependent on gas imports from Russia, while trying to diversify supplies, as well as among them through the reverse gas from Europe.
