Brian McDonald: Ukraine? Huge headache for Merkel
Ukraine is terrible headache for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, writes the Irish journalist Brian MacDonald in his article on the Internet representation.

for reviews of the author, the Chancellor is trying to manage the consensus and is afraid to take a hard stance on any issues. Anyway, according to Ukrainian conflict it must weigh a number of conflicting interests.

The complexity of the moment lies in the fact that Germany, the question relates to American military power, however, as a member of NATO, the country relies on U.S. national security issues, says the journalist.

The military power of Germany, emphasizes McDonald, leaves much to be desired. For this reason, it is doubtful that Germany would be able to protect themselves from Poland, not to mention Russia.

Therefore, If Washington will realize that Berlin has moved away from its policy on the Ukrainian question and is in close relations With Moscow, it will have serious consequences for the current cooperation between Germany and the United States.

On the reverse side, If Merkel will bow to us pressure and agreed to accelerate the accession of Ukraine to the EU, then it will face enormous problems and discontent within the country.

" The truth is that the Germans were tired as they see it - to pay for the EU, most for certain irresponsible countries in the East and South. Taking into account that Ukraine is so dysfunctional that even Greece on its background seems to Switzerland, the Germans don't want to vote for her entry into the EU, " says the journalist.

"Even if Merkel will try to go on this path, her own party, the CDU can remove her from power," said Brian McDonald.
