The delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe began a two-day visit to Ukraine, during which discusses the constitutional and judicial reforms in the country. Experts of the Commission criticized the Ukrainian law "about the cleansing power" and made an offer to modify it, halting the process of lustration.

"Arseniy Yatsenyuk drew attention to the preparedness of the government of Ukraine to continue active cooperation with the Venice Commission in the preparation of the required initiatives ", - reported in the report of the press service.

in mid-September last year, the Ukrainian Parliament with the 3rd attempt blesed the law on lustration. As warned by the attorney General Vitaly Yarema, the law is not in conformity with the Constitution and the requirements of international law. Anyhow, October 9, the Ukrainian head Petro Poroshenko has signed the law, but did not rule out the inclusion in it of the change in the case of observations from the Venice Commission, or the constitutional court. Within the so-called process of lustration already dismissed most of the officials who worked during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych.

The lustration of power was one of the requirements of participating in the mass protests held at Maidan in Kyiv from November 2013 to March 2014, which led to the coup d'etat in Ukraine.
