Greek foreign Minister: EU has not imposed fresh sanctions against Russia because of the position of Athens
The European Union did not take a fresh branch penalties with regard to Russia in January for the position of Greece, said on the first day of the week in an interview with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias.

"by agreement with our partners and in our proposal the European Union on January 29, 2015 decided not to take the branch penalties, which included the structure of the European Union. Today We do not stop to avoid branch penalties. Other forms of punishment were taken before We came to power, " he said.

Cotzias said that punishment, in the opinion of the Greek side, are not an effective tool.

"We must remember the experience of Greece, which has imposed sanctions against the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and they led to the fact that benefitted only certain oligarchs, who organized the smuggling of raw items," said he, adding that the most inefficient punishment, which " caused by anger or desire to subdue the opponent."


Western countries since March has repeatedly imposed punishment on a number of Russian politicians, businessmen and organizations because of the position of Russia in Ukraine. The last case of the use of such practices began in December limits, when the head of the U.S. announced an economic blockade of the Crimea, and in the sanctions List included a number of famous figures from the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine.
