The head of the EU foreign Ministers discussed the topic of sanctions against Russia at the meeting in Riga in the first day of the weekend, and were divided in their opinion about the need for its extension, said German foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

"during today's meeting topic sentences received different assessment. I heard that the Greeks now advocate that in any case was not introduced fresh punishment. But this is not a post on what to do with existing (sanctions), " said Steinmeier upon completion of the informal meeting of Ministers.

The diplomat also noted German position: He added that the future of the European punishments towards Russia will be associated with the execution of the Minsk agreements. As long as, according to him, to talk about the renewal of the sanctions prematurely.

"Look, how to develop the relationship of the conflicting parties, as well as among them Russia, and then we will make a conclusion about what the consequences this may have on the report on the sanctions," he added.
