Russia refused CFE forever Russia under any circumstances will not return to the Treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe, which has proved its own inefficiency, says the Director of the Department for non-proliferation and arms control of the Foreign Ministry Mikhail Ulyanov.

According to him, Russia's participation in the CFE Treaty is not related to the fact that the relations between our country and the Western countries have entered the stage of exacerbation.

Russia for quite a long time expected from Western partners common steps and fruitful position on the Treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe. And yet the West has preferred under false pretexts to deny execution of the commitments, and the format of such interaction has certainly lost relevance for Moscow.

"I think that under any circumstances we will not return to the CFE Treaty", - quotes "Interfax" Director of the Department for non-proliferation and arms control Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Ulyanov. However, Russia will not withdraw from participation in other forms of cooperation, if our Western partners have expressed interest in this.

Moscow's refusal from participation in the General's Advisory group on the CFE Treaty should not be associated with a worsening of relations between Russia and Western countries. "I would direct these things are not linked," he added Ulyanov. Political situation had a great impact on the Russian Federation's intention to ensure security in Europe.

Earlier, Russia decided to terminate participation in the General meetings of the consultative group on the Treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe from 11 March 2015. Therefore, the suspension of the CFE Treaty, which was announced by Moscow in 2007, becomes full. To represent national interests, the state has asked Belarus.
