The head of Lithuania favours the extension of sanctions against Russia
Maria Kniazeva. President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite favours the extension of economic sanctions with respect to Russia, But does not know whether a decision on the matter to be taken at a meeting of the EU leaders on Thursday.

"I have no information about it, maybe we will address this issue. We will take the decision, I don't know. But I argue for the necessity of extending the punishment " she told reporters before the summit, answering the question, are there any plans to approve regulations on sanctions on the European Council.

"punishment work until July, we will see whether we will extend them today or later, But I am in favour of extending and deepening", she added.

Against Russia, the West has imposed a series of sanctions, because the Ukrainian authorities, as well as the United States and the European Union has repeatedly accused Moscow of meddling in Ukraine's Affairs. Russia denies it and calls such accusations are unacceptable. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to domestic conflict and not privy to the events in the Southeast, is interested in Ukraine to overcome the political and economic crisis.
