A mass street fight in northeast Moscow Wednesday night that injured 10 people, four seriously, was not ethnically motivated, police said.
Dismissing earlier media reports that the fight had been an inter-ethnic confrontation, police said the dust-up had merely been a mundane street brawl.
Police said that 10 people were injured in the melee, and that four people with knife wounds were hospitalized.
The fight began Wednesday at around 11:00 p.m. Moscow time (7:00 p.m. GMT) in front of a building on Ostankinskaya Street, and involved about 20 people.
Investigators are looking into the cause and are in the process of identifying the participants.
