The Russian pipe tycoon Dmitry Pumpyansky is looking to gain a foothold in the railway engineering market by arming himself with foreign technology.
His company, Sinara - Transport Machinery, expects to obtain designs for traction stock and rail shunters from the German Siemens. The parties were reported to have reached an agreement, enabling Sinara to enter the market dominated by Transmashholding, Russia`s top railway engineering company.
Sinara - Transport Machinery, a subsidiary of Sinara Group controlled by the major owner of the pipe maker TMK Dmitry Pumpyansky, was founded in August this year. The company holds a controlling stake in two Russian railway engineering companies.
