Trade between Russia and Kyrgyzstan could reach $1bn in 2007, the Co-Chairman of Russia-Kyrgyzstan intergovernmental commission and head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency Sergei Kiriyenko told a meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, today.
The current state of economic relations between the two countries suggests that a further increase in trade in excess of the projected figures is possible. Trade should reach $1bn within 3-4 years, which is in line with the agreement between the Presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan. As reported earlier, trade soared 44 percent to over $806m in 2006, as compared to 2005, and exceeded 75 percent during 2007.
