Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated all the deputies of the 4th State Duma on the end of their work.
"I am doing this with pleasure. I would like to congratulate all the State Duma deputies on the end of their work - not only United Russia, but even those who have never voted in support of bills, and some have not made positive decisions, but truth is born of arguments," Putin said at a meeting with United Russia leaders and activists on Saturday.
The 4th State Duma passed more than a thousand bills, Putin said. "Over two-thirds of them have been initiated by your faction. All positive decisions and actions have been made with United Russia`s support and direct involvement," he said.
"This concerns the economic and social sectors, the creation of development institutions, and the pension system," he said.
"A lot has yet to be done [to improve the pension system], and it needs modernization," he said.
Putin also pointed to the importance of the passage of socially oriented bills on increasing salaries and other allowances and on setting up the so-called maternity capital. "This was done energetically, professionally, and timely, and I would like to thank you for that," Putin told the parliamentarians.
