Roads repairing and construction will be congealed in Russia. Russian Mintrans front office decided to overview optimization of road construction viewing the expanding financial crisis. The costs will be reduced 150 mld rubles, as it is reported on the official site, most new projects will be postponed. Only the premium projects will be funded.
It means Russians will continue driving on bad roads, moreover thousands of road companies will lack orders. Every fourth employee working in this branch can be laid off. The ministry is at the moment promptly developing complex of measures to support them.
As experts estimated, Russian economics loses about 1,8 trillion rubles because of bad roads condition. About 60% of federal roads don?t correspond to regulatory requirements.. Other roads? condition also leave much to be desired.
Only 8% of all taxes and other obligatory payments of car owners are used for roads construction, says Viktor Pohmelkin, chairman of Road Users Movement. "It is necessary to carry out some reforms in order to change the dramatic situation. It?s necessary to restore roads fund. More money is to be left in regions and municipal units. The biggest part of roads is owned by regional and municipal units, but money is concentrated in federal budget.
Report about Russian roads condition was published in the edition of Interregional community center "For security of Russian roads". According to the rating made by the report authors, the worst roads are in Ekaterinburg. Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kazan, Orenburg and Perm are also on the list. Roads of the highest quality are in Moscow and Tuymen.
Yuri Vorobyev, analyst at group of companies Region, reckons a lot of federal projects can be ?buried?. Moscow and regional units lack money. The only alternative that can bring back the branch to life is help of private investors. It? necessary to develop combined investments in roads construction as they do it abroad. But as long as the crunch expands, Russia won?t be able to cope with one of its main problems".
