Ukraine has adopted a law on the commencement date of the "temporary occupation" of the Crimea
The Parliament of Ukraine adopted the Law, which proposes to install 20 February 2014 start date "temporary occupation" of Crimea.
The decision Tuesday upheld 239 parliamentarians with the necessary minimum of 226 votes.
in the explanatory note it is reported that upon the seizure of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was held on 26 February 2014, and " violation of the armed forces of the procedure of crossing the state border of Ukraine and illegal stay on the territory of Ukraine for further temporary occupation of the Peninsula - 20 February 2014 ".
"The purpose of the bill is the actual start date of temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol to prevent negative consequences for the economic and moral rights and duties of citizens, legal entities of Ukraine, as well as strengthening the position of Ukraine in the course of resolving a dispute against Russia in the European court of human rights and other international jurisdictional bodies" - written in the explanatory paper to the document.
Crimea and located on the Crimean Peninsula Sevastopol became the Russian regions in March 2014 after a referendum in which over 90% of citizens voted for secession from Ukraine and reunification with Russia. In the capital of Russia notice that the referendum in Crimea complies with international law and the UN Charter. Ukraine still considers Crimea its, but at the time occupied territory.
The bill still must be signed by the head of Ukraine. It is planned that it will take effect from the day following the day of its promulgation in the official media.
