Tatyana Firsova. The implementation of the Minsk agreements Ukrainian settlement will open for world brotherhood, as well as among them the Russian Federation and Germany, many roads, says the head of the Munich security conference Wolfgang Ischinger.
"If Minsk is implemented, it would re-open most of the way," said Ischinger on Thursday, speaking at the opening of the Russian-German public forum " Petersburg Dialogue ". Ischinger suggested to make wider the existing "Normandy format" on settlement in Ukraine (Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine - ed.) due to the countries-signatories of the Budapest Memorandum (Ukraine, USA, Russia, great Britain - ed.).
"We need a sustained diplomatic process," said Ischinger.
"St. Petersburg Dialogue" Forum of civil societies of Russia and Germany, which was established in 2001 on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Federal Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder. It is designed to deepen understanding between Germany and Russia, the further development of bilateral cooperation in all spheres of society, further promote ties between the two countries. The main annual event of the forum is the conference, which was held at the same time with the inter-governmental consultations.
The forum opened on Thursday after a long hiatus. In the past year, "Dialogue" and traditional parallel Russian-German intergovernmental meeting canceled amid deteriorating relations between pairs of countries. This year the Forum will be held from 22 to 24 October and will be the 14th in a row.
