American researchers after several studies produced relatively sensational statement of life in the oceans. It turned out the largest bodies of water on Earth rapidly colonize a previously unknown form of life.
A group of academics from the Institute of John Hopkins University analyzed the increase in the world ocean coccolithophorids, which represent a single-celled planktonic algae haptophyte. Data mysterious living organisms in recent years is becoming more. The reason for the increase in the level of carbon dioxide in the oceans, informs Business Insider.
As showed the analysis, in 1965 the proportion of these algae in the ecosystems of the oceans was 2%, and by 2010 increased to 20%. Scientists did not expect such rapid developments. "Quite the rapid pace is something strange. According to our calculations, this form of life are distributed with extraordinary speed," says researchers.
Even more alarming from professionals is the precedent that coccolithophorid not completely understood. According to the American researchers, these tiny organisms today have evolved to such an extent that have a limy skeleton. Despite multiple studies, experts still do not understand what are coccolithophorid, and what to expect from them in the future.
