North Korea has lost one of its largest trading partners after India terminated the majority of transactions with that country.
Last week the Indian government announced the termination of all trade except food and medicine, because on the Korean Peninsula tensions, and the US administration calls for more global action to isolate Pyongyang. The ban came into force in April.

Most Western countries stopped trading with North Korea. Until recently India was the third largest trading partner after China and Saudi Arabia - according to the International monetary Fund.
According to the Indian government, in 2015-2016, India exported to North Korea of goods to $111 million and imported about $88 million India maintains diplomatic relations with Pyongyang, and sanctions prohibiting trafficking, was first officially published in India, saying the country would fully implement sanctions resolutions of the United States.
In 2015, India abstained from voting on the UN resolution condemning human rights violations committed by the North Korean regime. India has also in the past has allowed North Korean nationals to visit India for training. Under the new prohibition of all military, police, scientific and technical services are prohibited. India said that it will also freeze all funds and financial assets on its territory.
