The `We Made You` rapper had been expected to follow his last album, `Relapse` with a sequel - which he recorded at the same time as the first release - but he tweeted to say it wouldn`t go ahead.
Following a post at the end of March saying "Don`t worry. Some big news is coming. Soon" Eminem simply wrote today: "There is no Relapse 2"
The cryptic message left no indication as to what the rapper is planning instead, though it fuels speculation he is working on new material which will take a different direction to `Relapse` -a dark album in which the rapper reflected on his struggle with drugs and near death from an overdose.
Fellow rapper 50 Cent has previously told how he had a sneak preview of `Relapse 2` and was keen to see it released.
He told last year: "He made a whole body of work when he recorded `Relapse`. When I go to Detroit I stay at his house, so we go in the garage and sit in his car and listen to his new music - and my favourite material is going to be on `Relapse 2`."
He also said the songs were even darker than `Relapse`, adding: "You have to balance concepts: The deep stuff, the club songs and songs that connect directly with the audience you`re looking for - and there was more of the last two on `Relapse`, and I mean, Em, he was coming off... Well, he had a tough time. He was getting high when he was making these albums."
