The Oscar-winning actor is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment after doctors found a tumour at the base of his tongue but his `Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps` co-star Shia Le Beouf says Michael is strong enough to beat the disease and doesn?t need pity from anyone.
Shia told US TV show `Entertainment Tonight`: "Michael is the epitome of strength. I mean, he`s stoic, and I don`t think he would want any kind of sympathy call or check-up at all. In fact, I think he`s the exact opposite.
"I just think cancer picked the wrong guy when he picked Michael. Michael, he`s going to be fine. He`s got a good support system though. Good family, good friends. He`ll be fine."
`Mad Men` star Jon Hamm - whose mother died of cancer -also spoke out about the 65-year-old star`s cancer battle, wishing him a "speedy recovery."
He said: "I wish nothing but the best to Michael. He`s an amazing actor, and amazing filmmaker, amazing producer, and a career that is admirable in many ways, so I wish nothing but the best for a speedy recovery for him."
The 65-year-old actor - who has two children Dylan, 10, and seven-year-old Carys with wife Catherine Zeta Jones, as well as 31-year-old Cameron with former spouse Diandra - remains optimistic about his chances of beating the disease and recently revealed the tumour is shrinking.
He said: "I like my odds. I`m not dealing with mortality issues until they tell me `Oops we have to go back and do surgery` or something like that. The tumour is shrinking."
