Why can`t the continent feed itself?
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) says that 25,000 people die from hunger and poverty every day in Africa.
Worse, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) says Africa is the only continent that is lagging behind in achieving food sufficiency by 2015.
Currently, in Malawi, food shortages threaten half the country and in many parts of East Africa a food crisis looms because of poor rainfall. In September hundreds of people died of hunger in Niger.
