At least 67 people died and about 300 were injured as a result of 3 explosions occurred in Amman on Wednesday evening.
This was informed by "Al-Djazira" satellite channel with reference on announcement of the deputy of Jordanian prime minister.
Explosions took place in 3 large hotels with interval of several minutes.
The first blast occurred at the Grand Hyatt Hotel about 20:50 by local time. Several minutes later the second explosion took place in the Radisson SAS hotel. Third blast sounded in the Days Inn Hotel. The three hotels are within a few hundred yards of each other.
Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muasher said the largest blast occurred at the Radisson during a wedding celebration and at the Grand Hyatt, set off by a suicide bomber wearing a belt packed with explosives. The Days Inn blast occurred when a car failed in an attempt to breach a security barrier and exploded outside the hotel, he said. There have been no claims of responsibility for this terrorist action.
Jordanian authorities made a decision to close land frontiers of country in the view of terrorist actions.
All 3 hotels were popular among tourists. As representative of Russian Embassy in Jordan informed there were no Russian among victims of explosion in Amman. By words of Russian diplomat, one citizen of Russia was registered at Radisson SAS hotel but he was not inside during explosion.
USA, Syria and Palestinian autonomies` authorities already fulminated against terrorist actions in Amman. In the view of explosions the general secretary of UNO Kofi Annan postponed his visit to Jordan appointed on November 10.
Thursday is declared non-working day in Jordan.
The king of Jordan Abdullah II sharply denounced terrorist actions in Amman. Jordanian monarch is assured that terrorists will be found and stand before court. "Jordan will remain safe and stabile country", - he noted.
