Almost nine thousand people left without electricity

281 settlements remain without electric light in Novgorod region as a result of mass damages of electricity supply networks.

Regional department of Emergency Control Ministry informed Ria Novosti on Saturday 8756 persons are depleted of power supply by now, mainly those who live in distant villages.

56 high-tension transmission lines are not working, 696 transforming stations were "turned off".

50 groups of workers of "Novgorodenergo" were enabled for restoration of standing lines.

There was no information from operative services about emergency situations related with absence of electricity.

According to regional department of Emergency Control Ministry the reason of damages of networks in Novgorod region was blizzard which began on the night of Friday and continued for more than 24 hours.
