According to investigation of scientists from Rutgers University, level of World Ocean increases 2 times faster for last 2 centuries than during previous epoch - rate reached 2 mm per year.
Professor of geology Kenneth Miller and his colleagues conducted series of land investigations at ocean coast in New-Jersey and established that 5000 to 200 years ago annual rise of world ocean amounted to 1 mm. Observations of ocean level since 1850 and recent investigations by satellites registered that rate of water approach reached 2 mm.
If this tendency remains then within 13 years level of world ocean will rise by 2.5 cm. This information evidences about changes in Earth climate.
"Without information about annual rate of world ocean level rise for last thousands of years, we could just suppose that increase was 2 mm per year since Earth origin. But on the base of recent investigations we made a conclusion that this tendency appeared recently.
Rates of ocean level rise speeded up as industrial epoch has started. Results of investigations contradict to famous theory, according to which rise of ocean level is determined by tectonic process in the earth`s crust. It is more likely that the cause of water element increase lie in intensive development of industry during last 1.5 centuries, though oscillations of world ocean level were registered earlier.
