Chairman of Russian "Booker" jury refused to declare laureate

Chairman of prestige literary award "Buker - Open Russia" jury Vasily Aksenov declared that he dislikes novel-winner and publicly refused to name laureate.

"I don`t consider this novel as novel-sign. Actually I dislike it. Therefore I refuse to name laureate", - confessed Aksenov at press-conference.

"I beg your pardon, Denis", - he said to Denis Guzko, the author of novel "Without trace of route", which was considered the best by majority of jury. Guzko, who was sitting near Aksenov, confoundedly kept silence.

In opinion of Aksenov, the best novel of 2005 is "Kablukov" by Anatoly Naiman.

This year members of jury were write Vasily Aksenov, Petersburg prose writer and poet Nikolai Kononov, critics Evgeny Ermolin and Alla Marchenko, musician Vladimir Spivakov.

Booker premiums for best literary work are awarded annually since 1992. Since 2002 premium is called "Booker - Open Russia".
