First East-Asian summit, which took place this Wednesday in Malaysian capital, became "a success in all aspects", informed premier-minister of Malaysia Abdulla Akhmad Badavi during press-conference.
All participants of the forum "agreed that East-Asian community will become the realty in near future" , emphasized the head of government.
Russian president Vladimir Putin performed a speech at first East-Asian summit as a guest. The day before he participated in summit Russia-ASEAN.
"Russia expressed the desire to become member of East-Asian community", - announced Malaysian premier. "Technical questions of Russian entering the community will be discussed by premier-ministers of the Asian countries", - he added.
By words of Badavi, first summit discussed wide range of questions, including energetic cooperation, environmental protection, and struggle against transnational crime.
It was decided that forum will be held annually and next summit will take place in Philippines.
East-Asian summit in Kuala-Lumpur was preceded with 11-th ASEAN forum, first meeting Russia-ASEAN at top level, 9-th summit ASEAN-Japan, 9-th summit ASEAN-South Korea, 4-th summit ASEAN-India.
Australia appealed countries-partners in East-Asian community (EAC) to stop Russian entering in the community.
Several minutes before performance of Russian president Vladimir Putin, invited to EAC summit in Kuala-Lumpur as an honorable guest, premier-minister of Australia John Howard suggested members of first EAC summit to negotiate in previous format. "I think, we should follow existing structure", - he declared.
From his side, Putin promised that Russia will contribute to solution of EAC actual questions, including efforts in formation of financial stability and energetic security, struggle with terror.
Meanwhile, members of "club of 16" doesn`t exclude the possibility that Russia will join East-Asian community next year.
At present moment following countries are the members of East-Asian community: Australia, Brunei, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Japan.
