New Year is the holiday, which brings joy to everyone, independent on age, sex, social status, income etc. The poll, conducted by "Levada Centre" shows the New Year?s Eve to be one of the most important holidays for 80% of interviewed Russian people, including their birthday and their family?s and friends? birthdays. 93% of 1600 interviewed people are going to celebrate New Year?s Eve, 72% are going to celebrate it at home, 20% are going to do it among friends, and 3% are going abroad. Even those, who have nowhere and no one to go to, are going to raise a glass of Champaign for New Year (2%). New Year?s plans depend on the age of the interviewed. Among people of 18-24 43% are planning to stay home, 46% are going out, while among people of 40-54 80% are saying home and 13% are going out. Candies and various sweets are the most popular kind of present among Russian people. 34 % of the interviewed people admitted that they are going to present sweets to their relatives and friends. 21 % going to buy various toys, 20% prefer perf ume and make up, 15 % of Russians are kin on knick-knackery. Among other presents there are electrical appliances, clothes, mobiles, jewelry, and even a car. However, 9 % are not going to give presents at all, while 19 % don?t know what to buy.
