In 2007-2008 European Union will introduce new rules of Schengen visa granting, including Russia. This was informed by Austrian ambassador in Moscow Martin Vukovich, who presented priorities of Austrian chairmanship in EU this Friday.
"In 2007-2008 every man will have to apply for Schengen visa to visa department only in person, not by mail or mediator", - said ambassador on press-conference in Moscow.
By his words this measure is connected with introduction of biometric data, which should be checked at spot. "Of course, we understand that it will cause many difficulties for such huge country as Russia. By this time we should completely reorganize our work in order to lighten process of visa granting", - said Vukovich.
By his words, there is an idea to create united Schengen offices, where visa to any country of EU can be granted. In opinion of ambassador it will ease process of visa granting for citizens of Russian regions.
